I was feeling pretty good this morning but Todd was feeling ill. We headed over to the hostel next door where we were last night and had their western-style breakfast. After breakfast we went back to our rooms, packed, checked out and got a taxi to Playa Del Ritmo Beach Hostel, a seaside hostel on the Caribbean coast. It's about a 30-minute taxi ride south of Santa Marta.
When we got to the hostel we were supposed to have a room with three beds but as it turned out there was a double bed and they brought in a single bed, so I claimed the single bed and Todd and Ryan had to share the double bed. The hostel is not too bad, the rooms are a little bit run down but it has a nice bar/restaurant area and a beautiful expansive beach which goes on and on and on for miles. To the north, it runs up against a cliff and to the south the beach runs for several miles. After checking in, I just relaxed and Ryan and Todd went swimming in the ocean. Ryan seemed to really enjoy it and said it was just great having the whole beach to yourself. He said the 'all-inclusive' beaches are usually just packed with people. Ryan ordered an ice cream and ended up getting a brownie sundae. It looked awesome to me so I ordered one for myself.
Because of the trek to the Lost City, all of my clothes were reeking with sweat so Todd and I combined our dirty clothes and did our own laundry at the rear of the hostel. I complained to Todd that I am not used to doing my own laundry. So in his blog, Todd tells Juanita that I should learn to do my own laundry at home. Ha, ha.
For the rest of the day, we really didn't do anything. I sat down at my computer getting caught up on the stock market and blogs and other than that we just relaxed.
In the evening there was a football game between Colombia and Canada (soccer match). I watched it for a while and Colombia eventually scored a point; however, I started getting tired and couldn't go on any longer so I hit the sack. Ryan hit the sack about the same time and Todd stayed up to watch the complete game. The final score was 1:0 for Colombia.
That's it for today; talk to you tomorrow.
