DAY 15 - ENJOYING CARTAGENA

We made our way to the Mamallena Hostel to confirm our reservatiuon on the catamaran Nacar for our 5-day trip of the Caribbean Sea to the San Blas Islands and coast of Panama.  We booked our last night in Colombia at the Mamallena Hostel as there is a meeting with the captain the night before we leave for Panama.  After confirming our reservation, we headed out to further explore the old Cartagena.  We stopped at a couple of ABM machines to draw cash to pay for the cruise to Panama as the captain only deals in cash.  We will need about 1,000,000 pesos so we'll likely have to make two or three cash withdrawals.

We then headed back to the El Viajero Hostel to move our belongings to a 6-bedroom dorm as the room we were in was not available for tonight.  After moving we headed out for lunch and stopped at a local pizza restaurant.  After lunch we did some more exploring and then headed back to the hostel to relax.

About 7:00 p.m. we once again headed out to do some more exploring as the evenings here in the old city are a whole new adventure compared to day-time exploring.  The several parks in the old city come alive with outdoor eateries and entertainment.  The first park we came upon had Caribbean music and dancers entertaining the crowd.  They were absolutely awesome.

As we were leaving we ran into Ashley, a young girl from Vale, Colorado who was travelling on her own and staying at our hostel.  We invited her to join us.  The three of us walked the streets and watched the entertainment.  At around 9:00 p.m. Ashley mentioned a 'crepes and waffles' place which apparently has a huge menu of crepes and waffles.  So we stopped in for a late evening feed of crepes and waffles - they were awesome.  After, we headed back to the hostel and called it a night.
