DAY 2 - BIKE TOUR

Breakfast at Casa Platypus
We all had real good sleeps last night, the mattresses were nice and firm, and the temperature was comfortable.  We went for breakfast here at the Casa Platypus about 8:00 o'clock - fresh-squeezed juice, eggs, bread, etc., etc.  After breakfast we ventured out to see if I could get a SIM card.  However, no luck as it being Sunday, most businesses were closed.

Bike Tour
Ryan suggested we do a bike tour today.  We lucked out as we arrived at Bogota Bike Tours just as a tour was getting ready to go.  We booked into that tour, they gave us our bikes and helmets and away we went, leaving at 10:30 a.m.
Parade

We ran into a huge parade where the street(s) were all blocked off; they were protesting animal cruelty.  It was rather interesting as some of the women in the parade were walking bare-breasted.  We saw a lot of the historical highlights of the city and we stopped at a market where we sampled a lot of the fruit that is locally grown here.  We carried on to what is known as the 'red light' area where there are no restrictions or limits on how much the prostitutes can bare in the streets.  They can stand on the street stark naked if they want to; there are no rules or regulations regarding that.  So we saw several bare-breasted women, women wearing extremely short skirts as well as displays of very skimpy undergarments.  It was kind of interesting, ha.  After the tour, we headed back to the Casa Platypus, stopping for slices of pizza at a little roadside shop on the way.
Market

Anyway, I am quite proud of myself.  Despite the altitude of 8500 feet above sea level, I was able to keep up with the bike tour group.

Tonight when heading out to find a restaurant, we stopped at a Bogota Beer Shop and had a beer, then carried on to check out some restaurants and found one that we thought we would enjoy, Rosita Restaurant in la Candelaria area.  I have no idea what Ryan had, but Todd and I had some kind of a beef dinner which was quite good.  We then headed back to Casa Platypus at 8:00 p.m.

That's it for Day 2.  We saw a lot of Bogota today, historical sites and many interesting buildings.  The streets were quite hilly but all in all it was a very good tour which lasted from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and our guide was absolutely excellent.  He was never at a loss for words; he was very knowledgeable about the city and Bogota in general.
